Back in late October, the hunting world became a buzz with news of a possible new world record elk being taken in Utah by Idaho native Denny Austad. The GIANT American elk, dubbed the "Spider Bull" was believed to have green scored over 500 inches and after the mandatory drying period, easily top the existing record by several inches.
The hunting world awaited patiently for official word as both optimists and skeptics bantered back and fourth about the validity of the claim. Something that so often happens when animals of this magnitude fall but the Boone and Crockett Club has made it official! A special judges panel has determined and announced a final score of 478-5/8 Boone and Crockett non-typical points which puts the "Spider" a solid 13 plus inches above the previous World record. Sportsmen of North America would like to extend a big "Congratulations" to Mr. Austad on his monumental accomplishment.
