I would appreciate if anyone could answer this question.
This coming weekend, my husband and I are going to be going pheasant hunting in Dalhart, TX. This will be the first time that we have ever went after pheasant. In Colorado, it is illegal to use any shotgun lesser than 12 gauge. I was just wondering if it was the same in TX, or if a 410 shotgun is a legal method of take for pheasant. Thank you!

call the Texas dept fish and wildlife. im sure they could tell you, up until you mentioned it i had never heard of a specific type of gauge for birds most people use any thing from a 20 ga and up, i dont see why you cant use a 410 ga the only disadvantage is the fact that you really have to be on target with the tight pattern that the 410 gives, with the right shot the 410 is deadly on pheasant, that is if you dont let them get too far out.good luck and good hunting.

Well, I am fairly confident in the 410. We have a lot of pigeons around our house and so we had all been getting quite a bit of wing-shooting practice. It has been getting to cold now, so we haven't been shooting the shot guns that much though. Thanks for the reply gunslinger!
