Best ammo for shooting big boars?

planning on a feral hog trip to south ohio soon. I'll either be carrying a 50cal Traditions muzzleloader or my sporterized sks, oh and for sure the .40 smith and wesson mod 410 will be on my side. friends of mine have shot them with everything from a 223 to a 12 gauge with buckshot, not to mention 357's and 44's and .40's. Like everyone else make sure you are confidant that you can shoot on target and if need be quickly on a charging boar.

We have boar on our property and I use my 91/30 Mosin Nagant. I load 150 gr Barnes TSX FB over 52g of BL-C(2). I have also used heavier bullets over Varget 43 gr. I agree with the toughness of the animal, but I really find open sight shooting a thrill. Head shots the the way to go, but if not available, a well-placed bullet behind the shoulder broadside or quartering away will do the trick.

Happy hunting.

Bullet wise i'd go with the Hornady SST's. I use 130 grain SST's and they certainly show em the business.
