I've only been 3d shooting a few times, but it's my firm belief, unless you're a tournament shooter, use what you hunt with. Consistency is the name of the game.

The Duke was right on with if you are a once in a while 3D shooter, use what you hunt with. My experience of being around my sons bow shop is that it can get addictive which leads to using the longer/heavier stabilizer plus other equipment.

I shoot an eight inch stabalizer for all my shooting and hunting

Stabilizers add weight to the front of the bow and help you with windage adjustments because you are working the bow more up and down instead of fighting both windage AND elevation. you end up working the bow with up and down adjustment more than right and left. I used to use a stabilizer for all my shooting, both 3D and hunting. I quit using one due to the weight issue when I am hunting. my 3D scores didn't change and I still am able to put arrows where I aim when i am hunting.

How far do you shoot? Is what matters. If the farthest you shoot is 25 to 30 yards. Don't bother. YOu may not notice the difference. Other guys that shoot out to 50 or 70 yards It will mean everything in the world. Heck I have to use a 6x or 8x scope to see a 3in target at 70 yards. Heck I have to shoot a different target each time I shoot. Just so I do not tear up my arrows

I am going from a 16 in bar to a 36 inch doinker just to slow the movement of the bow down.
