My idea of hunting trophy whitetails is to hunt our NATURAL deer environment with no fences, and no scientific experiments. (One that was raised by it's mother and not a millionaire). I don't hold any records but hunter's that do, may be getting their glory periods cut short by these "bionic" bucks. If we have manmade deer, they will be in the record books. There is no way of stopping this, but I can sure put my opinion on it. (LEAVE NATURE ALONE )

Hey David, I couldn't agree with you more. Supplemental feeding and food plots do NOT change genetics. These farms where people are d****** around with gene splicing and experimenting with genetic altering to grow record book animals isn't right. Don't they know that "it's not nice to fool with mother nature"? This makes the record books something akin to the steroids era in baseball.

Yes, food plots are a different story all together, I've never done the food plot thing but I am not above it in any way. In a sense, it IS a way to MAKE big bucks but a very natural way, I hope you don't think I was knocking food plots, I believe they are 100% ethical. My only gripe is that, a common man who spends his life scouting, studying, and spending countless hours on stand for a chance at record breaking trophy buck can now be knocked off his pedestal by a rich man who has never had ice in his mustache. There ARE a few things left that money can't buy and this should be one of them.

I'm just ranting ross, seems some people can't leave "well enough" alone any more. If scientific research ever leads someone to the correct lottery numbers week after week, the game will stop soon after, and it's no different in the hunting department.

I have no desire to hunt pen raised animals either Curt, but I see it as a personal preference and have nothing against it, as long as it doesn't lead to the only type of hunting available. Thanks for commenting, and I will go halves with ya on that steer. :) Got plenty of room in the freezer.

I also have no desire to hunt a Pen raised animal (petting farm) I always thought they could not be entered in to any books? It was until just recently believed in trail cams (do to no scooting time anymore). I have always like food plots never hunted on one just farm land. I am a firm believer in scooting for your bucks and when it all comes together you cannot put a price on that. I am going to Texas with my daughter for the youth hunt in 2010 on a low fence 9,000 acres. I do not consider this as pen raised they are free ranging deer.

I agree with you Dave as i will never hunt a game farm animal. I have always wanted to hunt a Red Stag but they are all high fenced as well as most african hunts. I know those areas are much bigger but i still have a problem with the fence in my mind.

They can't be entered if it's a known fact that they were pen raised Tompkins, but there are ways to weasel around that, as I said before, "If we have man made deer, they WILL be in the books" and there is no stopping it. This topic is not about pen raised deer, but about genetically altered deer, which are more than likely pen raised but not limited to. Thanks for commenting Tompkins.
