Welcome to the site. Sorry to hear about your accident, but I'm glad you can still get out there and hunt. Is that a Grouse on your Avitar?

Glad to have Michigan open up crossbow hunting. I have some issues with carpotunal and was starting to have trouble pulling my 65# bow. Now I don't have to get a special permit to use one.

I am 55 yrs old, had emergency open heart surgery, had stints placed in the heart, diabetic, can't draw a bow anymore, and new york does'nt allow crossbow hunting. I hunted for over twenty five years with a bow. Does'nt that stink.....

I am buying my wife a crossbow due to dislocated right shoulder (R handed) and 5 surgeries (elbow down) on nerves left arm. I bow hunt (compound) and do not know about crossbow. I am planning on getting a "Predator" for her, but I am unsure of the bolt tip. I was told that I needed to go with mechanical for this. Is this true?

I own a Barnett Revolution and shoot Carbon Express bolts with Muzzy 125 grain tri-blade.
It has been my experience that mechanicals may fly better in some crossbows, but I have been displeased with their performance on game. Poor wound channels, no blood from poor entry wound, and lack of pass through from hanging in rib bones.
I tried fixed blades at first and had a problem with 'planing', a condition where the broadhead is trying steer the arrow instead of letting the fletchings do it. That is why I went to mechanicals. Then after one season of disasters from mechanicals poor performance on game, I switched to the same broadhead that I shoot in my PSE Primos NRG Hybrid compound bow. No planing, plenty of energy, some pass throughs, and not too expensive.
Personal note: Avoid Crimson Talon. The design of these broadheads create the worst form of planing by trying to counter the twist of the arrow.
